Vindolanda: they came, they went, they left a lasting legacy

On 14 September 2013, the Vindolanda Trust and the Roman Society celebrated the 1800th anniversary of the building of the very last fort at Vindolanda.

A site tour and visit to the museum were followed by a lecture by Dr Andrew Birley: Gallic Soldiers in Roman Britain and at Vindolanda - a special relationship? and a reception in the Vindolana Museum with the curatorial staff.
